The University of Adelaide trial contributes to a small but growing body of research that suggests acupuncture may help in improving pregnancy outcomes for people undergoing IVF treatment. The report also highlighted that acupuncture IVF is safe and has no adverse effects – see Acupuncture benefits for IVF Fertility.
At House of Fertility & Healing we can assist you during the preparation stage and throughout your IVF cycle, working closely with your doctor. Our acupuncture IVF treatments work in conjunction with your IVF treatment and will be of benefit to your health as well as that of your baby’s.
Pregnancy acupuncture can be safely integrated with your medical treatment, and can impart emotional balance, self-confidence and well-being during this challenging time – to help improve your chances of pregnancy success.
There a number of critical times where acupuncture IVF can be particularly helpful as you progress throughout each phase of your medical treatment.
Prior to Starting Your IVF Cycle
Acupuncture & Chinese herbs prior to starting your IVF cycle helps prepare your body for treatment and get you in good shape before you start – including regulating your cycle and assisting with ovulation. To create a flourishing garden, first we imbue the earth with nutrients & moistening mulch and then we till the soil. We do these things before we plant the seeds.
House of Fertility & Healing recommends beginning this preparatory course of treatment from 3 months prior to beginning your drug regime (should that still become necessary).
During the Stimulation Phase
Our pregnancy acupuncture treatments will help reduce the side effects of medication as well as improve follicle development and calm your nerves during this stressful time.
Below is a study featured on the American Society for Reproductive Medicine website which provides evidence to support this.
On the Day of Embryo Transfer
Two acupuncture treatments on same day. Research has shown very positive results having one session of acupuncture before embryo transfer and one after transfer. These treatments show an increase of both clinical and ongoing pregnancy rates.
Further evidence of this can be found in the following studies:
- Study: Acupuncture on the day of embryo significantly improves reproductive outcome in infertile women.
- Study: Influence of acupuncture on the pregnancy rate in patients who undergo reproduction therapy.
1-3 Days After Embryo Transfer
Acupuncture during this period potentially supports the implantation process & helps keep you on an even keel.
One week After Embryo Transfer
Keeps your energy & positivity up, mind and heart calm. If your pregnancy test is positive, we would strongly recommend ongoing treatments throughout your first semester.
